Leafminers: Exotic threats to Western Australia

Larvae from several families of flies and moths mine leaves of flower and nursery crops. These pests are referred to collectively as leafminers. The most common and damaging species are small flies (family Agromyzidae), especially Liriomyza species that attack many different hosts. The most important threats to the Western Australian horticultural industry are likely to be the Pea/Potato leafminer and the American serpentine leafminer.
