McCain Foods to acquire US frozen food company
June 12, 2006: McCain Foods Limited has agreed to acquire Jon-Lin, Inc. of Colton, Calif., a food service manufacturer of premium sautéed, grilled, fire-roasted and smokehouse roasted vegetables as well as onion rings and other appetizer products.
The acquisition of the private company was announced jointly today by Dale Morrison, President and CEO of McCain Foods Limited, and Russell Burch, President, CEO and principal shareholder of Jon-Lin. The financial details of the transaction were not released. The transaction is scheduled to close within 90 days.
“Jon-Lin is a perfect fit with our category-leading international appetizer business,” Mr. Morrison said in making the announcement. “We are excited about joining the McCain family, and we anticipate that their strength in market channels will present phenomenal growth opportunities for the category,” Mr. Burch added.
McCain Foods USA CEO Frank van Schaayk noted that the acquisition of Jon-Lin is an important addition to McCain Foods USA’s growing portfolio of “Great Food, Good Sense” products. “Jon-Lin is the recognized leader in the growing premium vegetable category and we are excited to bring this quality capability and all the associated innovation possibilities to our customers across the United States.”
